Being a good leader requires you to have certain qualities that most of the population does not have. You have to have a clarity of vision that is more developed than the vision that most people have. In fact, this is one of the five C’s that Vijay Eswaran teaches are essential if you want to be a servant leader who is serving the public as well as he can.
As a servant leader, you have to realize that you are a part of a big plan. You have to realize the role that you play. When you look at the big picture and you realize that you are here in order to help out others, you will not be concerned anymore about your own little selfish needs, as it is only when you lose track of the big picture and about your mission and your purpose in this world that you start to forget what you are supposed to do here and what you should be trying to accomplish. It is at that point when you start only thinking about yourself and you stop thinking about other people. That is why it is so important to always have a broad vision and a clear vision of the world and of your place in it.
As a leader, you also have to be communicating your vision to the rest of the world. The reality is that if you are not clear about your purpose in life, how are you going to be able to lead other people to complete their own mission in life and follow their own purpose? It is only when you are clear about your mission, whether that be a spiritual mission or even the mission of your company, that you will be able to convey that mission to your followers or to the people that are working at your company.
Vijay Eswaran is a motivational speaker who has written a number of motivational books, such as Two Minutes from the Abyss, where he teaches how you should live your life as if you are always two minutes from the abyss.
