Securus Technologies, a leading technology company that provides services to correction facilities, has announced the acquisition of GovPayNet. This move further enhances the company’s capability to provide payment processing to its customers. GovPayNet, headquartered in Indianapolis, is a leading provider of debit and credit payment processing for jails, county tax offices, and other government agencies. The company has contracts with over 2,300 agencies in the United States. The terms of the deal were not disclosed but GovPayNet will continue to operate under that name and CEO Mark MacKenzie will remain in his position.

 

Securus Technologies provides payment processing, inmate self-service, phone and email services, biometric analysis, and many other technology-based service to over 1.2 million inmates in over 3,500 correction facilities in the United States. They have purchases over 20 companies in the past 15 years, including fellow payment processor, JPay, in 2015. The acquisitions of JPay and GovPayNet have increased the company’s capability to process payments, with the estimate now at over 4 million per year.

 

Securus Technologies was created in 1986 in Dallas, Texas and is the premier provider of technology services to the corrections industry. They have offices in Dallas and three other locations in Texas, with one office in Atlanta, Georgia.
