Gustavo Martinez has enough years in the marketing industry to make him an expert. He has held top positions at some of the most prestigious firms like J. Walter Thompson Worldwide, McCann Worldgroup, Olgilvy and Mather and Henkel and Price Waterhouse.

He has been consulting in the marketing industry most of his working life and says it is a very important part of the marketing process. He states that creativity is the most important asset one can have in the marketing business.

Gustavo is working on a new project that helps new start-ups carry out strategies to improve success of the new business. It will also give marketers and established brands a hand up in their marketing strategy. Normally these firms would just have to try it out and see if it worked or failed and this project will let Martinez reduce any failures.

Gustavo says he typically works from 9 to 5 or maybe a little later. He spends time with his family at breakfast before going to work. When he gets to work the first things he does is check emails and checks out the business news. He does some traveling which can change his schedule a bit.

When asked how he brings ideas to life he does it by hiring talented and creative people and put them in an environment that fosters that creativity. He puts his staff on projects he knows they will enjoy which will bring out their best work.

Gustavo says if there is one thing he could go back and do better when he was younger would be to be more patient and take note of talented people. He has learned how to be more patient and make sure the people around him know just how valuable they are.

Martinez states that his strategy for having a successful business is hiring the right talent. He will do whatever it takes to get the best in the business and pay top dollar for top performers. He hire people from all different cultures which give him a broader view on the way people think.

Gustavo Martinez believes in charity but says it has to come from the heart, not to help your ego or wallet. He says if you are going to give to charity don’t do it to put your name out there. Charity should only be given with the intent to help people.
