Academy of Art University Wows at New York Fashion Show

New York Fashion Week is well-known as one of the most highly regarded events in fashion throughout the world. Emerging artists and designers have the opportunity to show off their work and personal style, and one of the most talented group of individuals came from the School of Fashion of the Academy of Art University. Combining unique color schemes and fabric textures, ten of the brightest and most promising School of Fashion graduates displayed their hard work on the runway.
The Academy of Art University, located in San Francisco, California, is home to an extremely diverse student body, which is reflected in the clothing itself. Students from all over the world presented their work. It’s no surprise that the Academy of Art University boasts such talent; it is thought of as the largest private school for all things art in America, and many students fight for a spot in this pre bvstigious university.
The school was founded in 1929 by artist and editor Richard Stephens, but they’ve only been participating in New York Fashion Week since the early 2000s. They’ve certainly come a long way from their initial enrollment of about only two thousand students! Part of the draw to the program stems from the wide array of degrees that they offer, along with the option to take courses online and prestigious staff members.
The 2017 New York Fashion Show was a success for these students for a number of reasons. Elite guests, such as America’s Next Top Model figures, were highly impressed with the student’s work and collaboration. Their hard work for the past few years paid off in a matter of minutes when the world saw their collections and intricate designs.
There were a number of stand-out students in the group as well, including Eden Slezin of the Bay Area, who was inspired by retro jean material, and Dina Marie Lam of Los Angeles, who lists the death of her aunt as an inspiration for how she wanted her pieces to feel. Congratulations to all of the students of the School of Fashion! Your hard work has paid off.
