Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund

When people are in a foreign land or without resources and they are what is considered a minority they often face unfair practices. When this happens there is usually no place for them to turn for aid and representation. With the current political climate in the US, this is more real than ever before. The Appointment of Julie Kirchner as the ombudsman for U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) assures that outside intervention is needed if migrant workers are to receive any semblance of fair treatment. This appointment encourages violations since this individual is the former leader of the anti-immigration and hate group known as Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR). With this appointment, the ongoing and increase of federal enforcement practices which include racial profiling, killings, detainment and denial of proper representation of principally Hispanic workers are expected to increase dramatically.

When the subject of human rights violations for migrant workers is broached several organizations spring to mind. The most well known are the American Civil Liberties Union which has a reputation for defending the rights of minorities. The American Civil Liberties Union upholds and adheres to the principle that no human can be deemed as ‘illegal’ and considered outside the protection of the law. Other less known groups which advocate for minorities, migrants, and immigrants include National Immigration Forum, the Border Angels and The National Immigration Law Center. Add to this ever growing list the now highly active and motivated Frontera Fund, founded by Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin.

The Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin Frontera Fund was launched in 2013 after the pair of respected journalists were illegally detained by Maricopa County sheriff’s department and held for 24 hours on trumped up charges because they did a cover story highlighting the gross abuse of the Constitution that was being carried by the infamous Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

They later sued and won a settlement of 37 million US dollars which has been earmarked to be used for the legal defense of those who brave the peril of crossing the southern border of the US to seek economic opportunity.

The Frontera Fund is intended to principally benefit the Hispanic Community which has been subjected to the most civil rights abuses and racial disparity in the state of Arizona. The community that this fund and Michale Lacey and Jim Larkin seek to defend are the source of much of our produce that is consumed throughout the United States and deserve protection and representation to preserve their dignity and fair treatment.

Arthur Becker’s Key to Investment Success

If you were to run a line through Arthur Becker’s work history you would find that it has always been elevating. According to The Real Deal, Arthur Becker is becoming a household name within New York City as well as the rest of the world for his ability to get in and invest in properties and technologies that are rapidly gaining steam. Becker first jumped into the investment industry as the CEO of the tech company Zinio back in 2003. Over the past nearly ten years Becker has expanded his horizons and begun to take in more and more duties. Let’s see what Arthur Becker is up to now.

In 2011 Arthur Becker established Madison Partners, LLC. Madison Partners is a real estate and bio tech firm that focuses on enterprising new technology, particularly in the field of cancer research, as well as unique real estate investments. Becker’s work with these two industries has come together by way of his immense passion for both fields. Becker doesn’t have medical background but he knows the importance of cancer research and he is comfortable putting in the time to research the potential investments he is facing. In a report by Curbed, as far as real estate goes, Becker is comfortable with renovating due to his relationship with fashion guru Vera Wang.

No matter what industry you settle on, Becker knows that you have to take your approach very carefully. Becker says, “Use your previous experience and go with it.” Becker’s obviously a lucky individual in that he has a wealth of experience to go off of, thanks to his multiple decade long careers in investments. However, if you don’t have a work history to base your future confidence on then you can instead focus on being as prepared as possible. Becker says, “I don’t think there was really any time that I necessarily doubted myself as a businessman.” Becker goes on to say, succinct and to the point, “It’s easy to doubt yourself if you don’t know what you are doing.” This is the key to success as an entrepreneur and it really goes to show that there are no shortcuts. If you want to succeed, then prepare.
